Key Design Hoist the Colours

Here is my Keyblade design based on Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. It was a lot of work to complete this, touching up the image and colouring it in. I mainly used gradients, textures and patterns for the fills, except on the characters' faces. I even added the chorus of "Hoist the Colours" from the movie.

The Key Design: The blade part is a steel tipped fan, used as a weapon by Sao Feng's servent girls. The hilt is a large buckle, similar to what Jack has. The chain is Jack Sparrow's piece of eight, which is the beaded string that hangs from the top of Jack's bandana. The shaft is a metal harpoon with a rope wrapped around it.

How Sora Gets the Key: BE WARNED, THERE BE SPOILERS! After the release of Calypso, newly elected Pirate King Elizabeth makes a big speech to unite against the East India Trading company. Sora recieves Hoist the Colours before he and Jack fight Davy Jones on the Flying Dutchman.

Also pictured is Sora (the Keyblade master), Elizabeth (Pirate King) and Captain Jack Sparrow. I wanted to draw the characters because of their part in the story of that Key. Elizabeth and Jack are drawn in a Square Enix style, which was tricky, the motif on Elizabeth's shirt was the hardest thing to do. I think Sora looks alright, I really like how his hair turned out.
